It's pretty amazing to realize that the way you live isn't the only one, and for me, it's opened my mind to other possibilities. Maybe I'll continue taking Latin dance classes after I return to the United States, or maybe I'll seek out ways to meet more Colombian-Americans in my home community. There are so many ways to take what you learn while traveling with you even after your trip ends, and I look forward to seeing where this experience in Colombia will lead me after my exchange experience is over.
Still, I'm not done here quite yet! I have until May 2019 to live and work here in Medellín, so I have plenty of time to continue learning and engaging with the culture. I'll miss writing articles to share with your classroom, though, and I hope you'll continue to think about and discuss what you've learned about Colombia over the past few months. Maybe you'll even find a friend at school who has Colombian roots, or you can try making a Colombian recipe at home with your family. Now that you know more about Colombia as a country, you can tell others about all of the exciting things you learned as well. And most importantly, remember that you too can travel to another country when you're older. With some planning and a determined attitude, you could have the chance to learn about a new place first hand and write your own Reach the World articles for a U.S. classroom. Never stop dreaming big, and maybe we'll run into each other somewhere around the world one day!
