Hello Ms. Valtierra and Ms. Vetrano's class,

Long time no see! I was so happy to see you on Google Meets last week.

Did you watch the FIFA World Cup in Qatar? I certainly did! The Black Stars - Ghana's football team - played, and almost every Ghanaian watched the games. One day, I was shopping in Accra when I heard shouts all around me. Cars honked their horns. "Two! Two!" someone yelled. The entire city was celebrating a goal made by the Black Stars. Pushing through the crowd, I saw a giant television showing the match on the side of a building. Ghana versus Uruguay. Who would win? (Watch the reaction here!)

Football, or what Americans call "soccer," is one of the most popular sports in Ghana. In Tamale, you can find children playing football in front of their schools. They kick the ball and defend their goals, testing their game-strategies at a young age. Sometimes, kids even use empty soda bottles as footballs. You can hear the bottles scrap the ground as the kids kick the plastic.

It is also easy to find official football matches in Tamale. We went to watch one game being played between two universities, using a football field at Tamale Senior High School for their game.
