A Day in Morgan's Life

Photos

Every morning, I wake up to Tamale's red dust roads, cool air and sunrise
For breakfast, I buy fried "massa," which is a mix of crushed maize (corn) and bananas
Before leaving my apartment, I put on sunscreen and mosquito repellent to protect myself from the hot sun and malaria, a tropical disease carried by mosquitos
I also make sure I have enough of Ghana's currency, the "cedi" (pron.: seedy), which pays for groceries and transportation
To get to work, I stand by the road and wave down one of the hundreds of cabs the locals call "yellow-yellows" to get to where I need to go
My yellow-yellow cab pulls into the parking lot of Tamale Senior High School, where I teach English to teenagers
At 10:30 AM, I start my English lesson, which I teach to students who are studying agricultural science
During the lesson, one student writes letters in the local language of "Dagbanli" on the white board
