Moving to a new country is adventurous, so I was very excited to come to Spain. Naturally, I was also a bit nervous. When I arrived, all of my senses were on high alert because I was taking in my new surroundings. Rapid Spanish filled my ears, the views of old, artistic architecture left me in awe and the sweet aromas of hot churros and earthy chestnuts made my mouth water. Everything was new and captured my attention. I loved soaking it all in.

When I moved into my apartment, I met my three flatmates. I live with one girl from Spain, one girl from France and one girl from California, just like me. I find it fascinating that even though we are all from different places and know different languages, we all learned how to speak Spanish. This is the reason we can communicate with each other and be friends. Learning new languages allows us to connect to more people.

I started working at CEIP San Prudencio, a bilingual school, so I have met many new people! I have about 160 students that I get to spend time with every week. We always have so much fun learning and discovering together. I have also become friends with my fellow teachers. Everyone at the school is very welcoming. They've helped me feel more at ease in a new place.
