Dresden's Altstadt

Photos

Destroyed during WWII, the Frauenkirche, or Church of Our Lady, was rebuilt with some of the darker bricks from the original chruch in the center of Dresden's Altstadt in the Neumarkt Square
Visitors can enjoy concerts in the Frauenkirche, so I attended a performance of Bach's organ works
A view of the inside of the dome of the Frauenkirche
Just a few minutes away from the Frauenkirche is the Dresden Dom (Cathedral), which is a Catholic church
The Dom, designed by the Italian architect Gaetano Chiaveri between 1739-1755, is a wonderful example of Baroque architecture
The altar in the Dom is currently undergoing restoration
Across from the Dom is the reconstructed Royal Palace where Saxon royalty lived beginning in the 15th century
