The room was filled with people of all ages who were all ready to learn. At first, my classmates and I were nervous because there were so many people who attended the first class. By the end, we had everyone participating and saying phrases in English.
This week, I read a few poems by a poet named Jose Martí for my literature class. He was a famous Cuban writer and a very important figure in Latin American literature. My favorite poem by Martí is called "Cultivo una Rosa Blanca" ("I Cultivate a White Rose").
My classmates and I visited a university in San Jose where students were playing Jenga during their break. When they saw us walking by, they invited us to play. I hadn't played that game in years! Thankfully, I wasn't the player who made all the bricks fall.
I was finally able to go to the small café near my school. It always smells like fresh pastries when I walk past. It has tables and chairs outside where you can get a good view of the mountains out in the distance. I had the most refreshing strawberry smoothie there.
