The Gobi Desert

Photos

The Gobi is cold and icy this time of year. If you can brave the cold, you can walk through a canyon like this one to view some beautiful ice cascading down the cliffs.

On the road! The Gobi is huge and mostly empty. We spent a lot of time driving from site to site.
You may think deserts are full of sand, but the Gobi actually only has sand in a few places. Here we are in front of the majestic, sweeping sand dunes. They are really fun to climb!
A caravan of camels against the sunset.
Every night we stayed in gers with local families. Here's the inside of one of the gers.
Footsteps on the sand dune... I love how there's snow and sand all at the same time! Have you ever seen that before?
Typical Gobi desert: yellowish orange land and a seemingly endless dirt road.
