¡Hola! My name is Lydia Estes and I am going to be spending the next month sharing my journey studying abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Here in Argentina, I am taking two classes in Spanish and two classes in English learning about Argentina and Latin America in general.
Let me tell you a little bit about myself! I grew up in Homewood my whole life (all 21 years!) and now I am a junior at Birmingham-Southern College studying Spanish and sociology. But just like y'all, I used to sit in those very desks in Ms. Smith's classroom at Shades Cahaba! Ms. Smith is also a friend I have traveled with all over the world! We have been to Mexico, Spain, and France together. Now she gets to travel with me (virtually) once again to my new home for the next four months!
More about me: I love to read, travel, try new foods, go on walks, and hang out with friends and family. I am fascinated by other languages and cultures so travel is a large part of my life. I have traveled to places like Mexico, Panamá, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Colombia, Spain, France, Kenya, and now Argentina. I am working on Spanish fluency and then maybe moving on to learning Portuguese! After college, I hope to work at a non-profit to help the Hispanic community in the United States.
