Stay Curious: Farewell From Siena

That does not mean that I always understand biology, or even always find it interesting, but learning about how to strengthen the neural connections in our brain by studying science is pretty fascinating.

Beyond my lab and research, some of my most meaningful moments have come from traveling, visiting museums and towns across Italy and Europe. Walking through architecture frozen in time is a powerful feeling, and allows you to see yourself as part of a much larger story of the universe. I have learned so much about myself and how the people of the world connect to each other through my travels. I am thankful to the Fulbright program, which awarded me a grant to study what I love in a place that I love. I would not have found this grant, or experienced this year in Italy, had I not remained curious and tried to find at least one interesting part of each class and lesson I attended. That is the key to learning and exploring – find what makes you happy, interested and most of all, curious! I hope you all have a great rest of your school year, and I dare you to think more about what you are simply fascinated by, and find a way to keep learning about it. Maybe you'll end up on your own journey abroad one day!

Arrivederci ragazzi (goodbye everyone),

Lillian
