Peace Corps is often referred to as “the toughest job you’ll ever love” because of the challenges that come with living amongst the community. However, it makes the work you do that much more effective. Working in the village has helped me make a greater impact on a smaller population. Through my work at SOS Children’s Village, I can see the positive effect my sessions have on orphans and vulnerable children.
Living in Botswana has opened my heart even more to new experiences by stepping out of my comfort zone, which allowed me to grow as a person. As my service in Botswana comes to a close, I realize I do not want this to be the only adventure I embark on. No matter where I am in the world, I plan to challenge myself by engaging with cultures and people different to what I know.
Thank you for following me on my journey in Botswana. Even though I will be traveling back to America, I will miss my friends, family and home away from home. I plan to carry this experience and the lessons I have learned with me throughout my life and I hope that hearing about my journey has motivated you to be adventurous yourselves and lead with openness when meeting new people. I challenge you to be curious and find new ways to learn about the world around you. Go Siame! Tsala Sentle! Goodbye! Stay well!
