How was the weather this week?:

If a Cypriot had asked me that question back in September, I would’ve said, “κάνει ζέστη!” (It’s hot!). And in some ways, when I first arrived here, I felt right at home because it was always sunny. I’m originally from Florida, which is often called the “Sunshine State,” but Cyprus could easily be called the “Sunshine Country” because it enjoys so much sunshine—sometimes over 325 days each year. However, as I said in my last logbook, the weather has since turned cold and rainy, and this week was more of the same: rain, rain, rain! In fact, my Cypriot friends can’t remember a winter as cold and rainy as this one in years. Luckily, this week one of my fellow teachers taught me five different words so that I can always be prepared to describe exactly how cold it is… Stay tuned for my response to the question about what languages are spoken in Cyprus to learn these words for yourself!

What animals did I see this week? :

I’ve spent most of this week in towns, so I haven’t seen any wild animals yet. However, as always, I have seen lots of stray cats, which are very common in Cyprus.
