The Changing of the Life Guard

The cavalry is now composed of two senior regiments from the British Army: The Life Guards and the Blues and Royals. Although the mounted guard used to see active combat back in King Charles II's day, currently they guard the Queen mostly during ceremonial occasions.

Is this tradition connected to its environment? How?:

This tradition is connected to the royal family in London. There are multiple Changing of the Guard ceremonies that take place in London, the most popular being the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace. The reason why the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace is so popular is because it is much more elaborate due to the ceremony's proximity to the Queen's royal residence. The Changing of the Queen's Life Guard is not nearly as crowded as the ceremony at Buckingham Palace, but that is what made it feel more special. I could actually see what was happening as the guards strode past me on their magnificent horses.
