They come in so many different shapes and colors and are hard to spot if you don't really slow down and search the reef. I still get excited every time I manage to find one!
Diving requires some important gear. If you don't have all the required things, you won't be able to safely dive. To start setting up for a dive, first, you need your cylinder or air tank. Once you have your full air tank, you attach your BCD to the tank. BCD stands for the buoyancy control device. Your BCD is a vest that can be filled with air from your cylinder to help you float while you dive. The BCD has a strap on the back so you can attach your cylinder to the vest. Next, you have to attach all your hoses to your tank. One hose attaches the cylinder to your BCD so you can add air to it while underwater. Two hoses are attached to regulators so you can breathe, and one hose is a pressure gauge so you can see how much air is left in your cylinder as you dive. I mentioned that you have two regulators. The regulator is the piece that goes into your mouth so you can breathe. Every diver has two regulators attached to their cylinder, one for yourself, and one for emergencies. Your emergency regulator has a yellow hose (so it's easier to spot underwater) and is used to share your air if your dive buddy runs out of air during a dive, or if you have a problem with your regulator while underwater. Once your gear has been set up it is time to put on your wetsuit! A wetsuit keeps you warm because the deeper you dive, the colder it is! Now that you are wearing your wetsuit and have all your gear ready, grab your mask and fins because it is time to get on the boat and head out on your dive!
