Hi all! Malaysia is a tropical country full of many beautiful flora (plants) and fauna (animals). Let’s explore!
Coming from New England, I have grown up hiking through lush evergreen forests, walking through colorful orchards in fall as deciduous (a tree which loses its leaves every year) trees burst into colorful “flame” before parting ways with their leaves and apples, sledding down icy slopes on crisp snowy days, basking in the first sunbeams of spring and playing in the warm embrace of summer. Each season has its own mood and its own personality, and when it comes it slowly pushes out its predecessor.
The seasons in Malaysia are not as varied as those in New England, yet they still have unique attributes (characteristics) to their personalities. First, let me have the pleasure of introducing you to the dry season. This hot, humid season is known for its warm sunny days and (usually) clear breezy nights. I’ve gotten to know this season very well over the past seven months as it arrived in Malaysia in March like me. Unfortunately, we will be saying selamat tinggal (good-bye) to this season very soon as October marks the start of the second season: monsoon season. Monsoon season is a stormy character, famous for warm temperatures, cloudy skies and plenty of afternoon rain.
