Food is an important way to learn about a place and its culture. When I traveled to Rome, I saw many small pizza shops on the streets. Pizza is one of the most famous foods in Italy, and people in Rome eat it for lunch, dinner or even as a quick snack while walking around the city. I decided to visit a local pizza shop and try different slices to see what pizza tastes like in Rome.
I tried several slices of Roman-style pizza, which are usually served in square pieces. Each slice had different toppings. Some had tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese, and others had spicy salami and blue cheese. My favorite slice had buffalo mozzarella, truffle and sausage. The buffalo mozzarella was creamy and soft, the sausage was savory, the truffle added a very special umami flavor that melts in your mouth.
When I tried the pizza, I felt excited to taste something new. The crust was crispy on the bottom and soft on the inside. The cheese melted perfectly, and the toppings were unique and flavorful. The slice with buffalo mozzarella, truffle and sausage surprised me the most because the flavors were rich and different from pizza I usually eat at home.
