When I first arrived, everything in Tasmania felt so different than home. Cars drive on the other side of the road; everyone has an accent; and the seasons are opposite! Living in Tasmania has been a big adjustment, but in a lot of ways, it’s just like Hopkinton, here: I can still go to the grocery store and make my favorite foods like blueberry pancakes and chicken nuggets. I can still go to school. I can still meet new friends and play sports. Being in a new place can be overwhelming and scary, but there will always be nice people and happy moments to make you feel at home.
I’m proud of myself for moving across the world. I think my second grade self (who used to sit in your seat!) would be proud too. I hope that following my journey has been inspiring to you. There are so many people to meet, animals to see and places to visit in the world. Whatever dreams you have for yourself, I hope you do your best to follow them and make yourself proud!
