How Does One Become French?

I counted over half a dozen such restaurants on the rue Daguerre alone, where my study abroad program is located. There are some American cultural imports as well, such as Mcdonald's. At the campus Cité International Universitaire in the south part of Paris, there are dorms that welcome foreign students by emphasizing their foreign identities – there’s an Argentinian house, an American house, a Danish house, a Korean house, a Brazilian house, etc. Although certainly, not all foreign students are permanent immigrants, it was nonetheless striking to me to see a public French institution emphasize the existence of non-French identities in such an explicit way.

In short, France is a fascinating mixture of tradition and the diversity brought on by modern globalism.
