Carnival Time

After this they held a concert there that attracted a lot of people. The concert started at nine, and when I arrived at ten there was a decent amount of people already. Closer to 11 and 12 is when it really started to pick up and the square was packed. I should have expected this, as Spaniards love to do things late into the night.

Why does the community have this tradition?:

Carnival is a religious celebration. It is traditioanlly a Christian celebration that begins seven weeks before Easter and is celebrated before Lent. Carnival allows for people to eat and party as much as they can before Lent, which is a 40 -ay period during which many Christians do not eat meat or give up other things, such as chocolate or alcohol as well.
