What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

The most interesting place I visited this week was the Pattaya Gulf. This includes Jomtien Beach, Ko Lan, a main island near Pattaya, and Ko Sak, a small island very close to Ko Lan. All the beaches there have warm, clear water. Sometimes the water is purely clear and at other times it has a clear blue tint. The deeper the water got, the less clear it seemed, but overall you could see very clearly what was near the surface of these ocean waters. I had rarely had the opportunity to be in warm water before because the ocean water along all of California’s coast is freezing. Even the rivers and lakes in California are on the cold side year-round. In Thailand, and especially in this part of Thailand, you could even swim comfortably at night because the water stays so warm and calm. I really enjoy places like these. It is relaxing and wonderful to be in places like the Pattaya Gulf.

Other Travel News from this week:

Never forget to wear sun screen in the equator zone where countries like Thailand are located. The UV rays here are at least double strength compared to the rays you will encounter in most of America. Most days here are quite sunny with sparse cloud coverage. So please take sunscreen seriously, and don’t forget to reapply! I experienced my first sun burn after my one and only day of not wearing sunscreen while in the Pattaya Gulf. The tight, sunburnt pain lasted me a couple days. Not fun!
