The memories I bring home and the friendships I have forged will stay with me forever. This experience would not have been possible without the generosity of the Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship Program as well as the support from the faculty at New Jersey City University. Educators guide students in the right direction which is why it was important to me to advocate for myself and my aspirations - I encourage you to do the same. With that being said, today is also the day I say goodbye with a heavy heart. Before I do, there are three things I want you to remember:
1) Growth is important, even if it feels uncomfortable at first
2) Curiosity will lead you to wonderful places and opportunities in the future
3) The world is beautiful and it is in the palm of your hands; be bold and brave!
Thank you Ms. German and Ms. Sanchez for allowing me to share my experience with your classroom. It has been a pleasure meeting you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading my weekly articles and for making this experience even more memorable than I could imagine. I truly enjoyed documenting this experience with prospective study-abroad scholars. Last but not least, congratulations on successfully completing the fifth grade! I hope that you all have an incredible summer!
