The Life of a Kid in Israel

 

How do you get to school? Are you allowed to go to school by yourself?:

I go to school by bus, by myself.

 

Where do you eat lunch? What is your favorite food?:

 

I like to eat at the school's cafeteria. My favorite food is schnitzel with fries.

 

What language do you speak at school? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

I speak only Hebrew at school, but we are taught English as well. “Shalom” is hello in Hebrew.

 

What are some common kids' names at your school?:

My best friends in school are called Levi, Jonah, Ben, Yael and Romy.

 

What subjects do you study in school, and which one is your favorite?:

I study math, history, Hebrew, English, geography, Bible and Talmud. I like math a lot.

 

What is your homework like?:

I have reading and writing. For math, I do calculations.

 

What do you like to do after school? Do you have a favorite sport or game?:

I like to play basketball with my friends. Every Wednesday after school, I go to my weekly Tenu’at Noar  meeting. [This is a youth movement organization that enables them to meet other kids in an informal environment. The meetings are usually religious or political.]

 

Who is your favorite famous person?:

My favorite person is Omri Casspi. He is a basketball player that plays in the N.B.A. for the Grizzlies. [This player is orginally from Holon, Israel.]
