As I've said, my tastes really go towards rock and indie more than anything else. My students made some Spanish rap lyrics for me to listen to, though, so I had fun listening to their songs.

What activity was the most fun this week?:

I think going to the Caixa Forum Egyptian Pharaoh exhibit was the most fun this week. I went one afternoon and had a great time. All the exhibits were on loan from the British Natural History Museum in London. The had artifacts, fragments of hieroglyphs and sculptures of the pharaohs. Unfortunately, they didn't have any mummies or sarcophagi (plural of sarcophagus, the pharaohs' tombs), but I loved what they had there!

What did I read this week?:

I read El Mundo, a Spanish newspaper, and a collection of poems by Frederico Garcia Lorca. I read the paper in Spanish to find out what's going on in the country. At the moment, Spain is facing political turmoil over the rise of nationalism in the country, similar to many nations in the world. The PP and Vox, the two most prominent right parties have taken control of Andalusia in the South, and PSOE, the more liberal party, is trying to find out how to reassert power in its areas.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

I played tennis this week on a clay court for the first time ever! I was very excited to play on one of these courts, as I never had the opportunity in the US. When I first came to Spain, I came with the notion that all courts would actually be clay. Rafael Nadal is Spanish, and he's great on clay, so all courts must be clay. My father very quickly pointed out the flaws in this argument, and he was right. Most courts are hard surface here. In terms of the game itself, I was routed.
