Ramadan Holiday in Morocco

The second meal is called shour and comes around 3 AM - 4 AM, right before the sun starts to rise. Moroccans usually eat sandwiches for shour. Why do Muslims fast like this? They believe that fasting gives them the chance to experience the lives of poor people and how they may often feel hungry because they have no food to eat. During Ramadan, families also give money and food to the poor. Muslims go to the mosque more often during this time, and they often eat ftour with their friends, families and mosque communities.

Is this tradition connected to its environment? How?:

While Ramadan is not directly connected to the environment, Ramadan is often affected by the environment. Remember I wrote that the time of Ramadan changes each year? Well, if Ramadan takes place during the hottest summer months of July and August, the fast is probably more difficult! Fasting, to Muslims, means that nothing can pass your lips from sunrise to sunset, not even water! Don't worry, children, pregnant women, those who are sick and the elderly are excluded from the fast. In terms of my environment, with Ramadan comes the closure of most cafes and restaurants during the day. So, this also gives me an excuse to cook more at home!
