One thing that I love about Morocco is there are many types of people living, working and studying here, all seamlessly together.

I first came to Morocco, to a small city named Meknes, in 2017. I was studying Arabic during the summer and the program required us students to meet with a language partner a few times per week. This gave me the opportunity to meet Moroccans who were also interested in meeting foreigners. I became great friends with many of the language partners! We traveled to the desert together, met for coffee and chatted about cultural differences between Morocco and America. One of my friends, Fatima-Zahra, still lives and studies in Meknes. I visit her as often as I can! I can travel to visit her by train, and it takes me about two hours.

Additionally, one of my tutors, Karima, also became a friend of mine, and when I arrived in Rabat last September, she was finishing her studies as well. We met for tea and talked for a long time in order to catch up!

Since moving to Rabat, I've also made Moroccan friends through a language exchange. At this language exchange, Moroccans and foreigners meet once a week to practice their languages. Together, we speak English, French, Arabic, Spanish and even German!
