Hey everyone!
My name is Julian Lentz, but my friends call me Jack. I’m from Hudson, Ohio, a wonderful town near the great cities of Akron and Cleveland. Do you know the basketball player Lebron James? Lebron and I are from the same area code.
I attended a small, liberal arts school called Furman University, which is in Greenville, South Carolina. After completing my degree in Economics, I moved to Atlanta, Georgia and worked for a big accounting firm for two years. Basically, I wrote reports and crunched numbers all day. I grew tired of the same routine and realized that I didn’t enjoy my work. It was time for a change. My boss thought I was crazy for quitting a good job to travel alone in Latin America, but I told him that I couldn’t ignore my desire to explore the world around me. For six months I traveled in Spanish-speaking countries including Mexico, Costa Rica, Colombia and Peru. As you can imagine, my Spanish skills improved a lot during my trip. I learned so much about other cultures and different ways of life, and a great deal about myself as well. It was an eye-opening experience that inspired me to continue my travels.
While traveling in South America, I began to consider teaching English abroad.
