You can see the differences in the culture, the food, and even the buildings. Walking around, you hear a lot of people speaking German, but all of the signs and storefronts were in French as well as German.
As the capital of Switzerland, Bern houses most foreign embassies in Switzerland and is where the Federal Government meets to make descisions for the country. It was really cool to see another place in my host country and it was definitely beautiful.
This week was pretty gloomy! It is just getting cold enough to snow, but sometimes it is more like a slushy rain. Switzerland has all four seasons, just like we do in the Northeastern United States. It gets very cold and snowy in the winter, especially in the mountains. In the summer it is nice and warm; you can even swim in Lake Geneva! Even though it is cold right now, it is beautiful to see snow on the mountains, and the city did feel very cozy this week. I have spent most of my time inside, watching the snow from the warm refuge of my apartment.
