Salut (hello) from snowy Geneva, Switzerland! My name is Jackie Sirc and I can't wait to tell you about how I ended up halfway around the world! First, some information about me. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with my parents, older brother, and a bunch of dogs. My parents loved having animals in the house, so I always had a puppy to snuggle with growing up. My family are big fans of Pittsburgh sports (go Steelers!) and I played soccer (they call it football in Europe) for most of my life and still love to play a pick up game with friends. When I was growing up, my favorite class was history. I liked to read as much as I could about the history of the U.S.A. and other countries all around the world. It is so cool to see how people from hundreds of years ago have shaped the way we live today!
After high school, I moved away from Pittsburgh for the first time in my life and went to college at the University of Richmond in Virginia, about a seven hours' drive from my home. Making a whole new start was definitely scary at first, but I found that every new experience I encountered turned out to be, in fact, an exciting challenge. My first challenge was finding a major that I thought was interesting.
