Even though Coatis use the environment to survive, they return the favor by dispersing seeds. This allows new plants to grow in forest areas.
Many tourists and visitors feed the Coatis. This may seem nice, but it actually makes the animals dependent on humans. They can get sick from the human food they're given or become more aggressive towards humans. Additionally, Coatis who are used to human interactions are at a higher risk for traffic accidents. Always remember to appreciate wildlife, but not to interfere in their lives!
