A Little Bit About Me!

Whether visiting family for the holidays or spending time together, I always enjoy being around my relatives.
Through my experiences traveling and meeting people from different cultures, I realized how much I enjoy learning about the world. I wanted to study abroad to experience a fantastic education in a country known for its business expertise, as well as to have the opportunity to live in a diverse region. Studying in Germany allows me to grow academically and personally while immersing myself in a new culture.
This semester, I am living and studying in Mannheim, Germany! Before traveling abroad, I felt extremely excited and nervous at the same time. I was excited to meet new people, explore the history of the cities I would travel to, and share my experiences with my family and all of you. But I was also a little nervous—would I fit into the culture? Would I adjust to life in a new country?
Now that I'm here, I've learned that feeling excited and nervous when stepping into something new is completely normal. It has been an incredible experience, and I am learning more daily!
Germany is known for its beautiful castles, delicious food and exciting cities. Mannheim, where I study, is a lively city with a lot of history and fun places to explore.
Even though I am far from North Carolina, I love sharing my experiences with family, friends and students like you! Studying abroad has taught me to step outside my comfort zone, try new things, and see the world differently.
Lastly, I want to share some information about a fantastic program that allowed me to study abroad called the Gilman Scholarship. I am honored to be a Gilman Scholar, a special scholarship program funded by the U.S. Department of State.
