There will be a lot of challenges along the way, but if it were easy, it would have been done already! Additionally, the Endurance22 team will be collecting scientific samples and conducting experiments in this remote corner of the world. Throughout all of this, we will be connecting live with students and classrooms around the world, giving you the chance to journey (virtually) in Shackleton's footsteps. If only Shackleton had had Zoom in 1914!
Throughout my life, I have returned to Shackleton's story for inspiration. I'm also an avid collector of all things Shackleton and Endurance. I hope you enjoy the photos of some of the highlights from my personal collection, including one of Shackleton's compasses and one of his sextants, used for navigation long before GPS. There are many smaller objects, instruments, photos and recordings in my collection. I love to share them with friends and family as we discuss the heroic age of exploration and the great new golden age of exploration we are in now. Today, advanced tools let us go back in relative safety and comfort to find out more about Shackleton's amazing ship, expedition and crew. Let the story continue!
