Hi everyone! My name is Emma, and I'm so excited to meet you all! Here is a little more about me.
I am from Virginia Beach, Virginia. When I was your age, I loved reading Harry Potter, dancing and spending time outside. I took dance classes until college when I attended the University of Virginia. My major was global public health. Global public health is the study of how to make communities healthier. In my major, I took lots of classes where I learned about new cultures. I knew then that I wanted to explore the world and live abroad one day.
I started tutoring South Korean students online in May of 2021. Most of my students learned English in high school but then forgot it. They were all older than me! Through tutoring, I realized that I love teaching. My students taught me about Korean culture, and I became very interested in it!
I was accepted to the Fulbright Program about a year ago. The government runs the Fulbright program, and they pay to send native English teachers all over the world. These teachers are known as "cultural ambassadors," which means they are supposed to share American culture with their host country and bring the culture of their host country back to the United States.
My host country is South Korea.
