Back in the United States, I did not have a lot of opportunities to practice Chinese, but being immersed in the language here in Taiwan has pushed my language-learning to new heights. Within 5 months of being here, I am now able to have simple conversations with my students in their native language and share fun facts about America with them in class.
Living in Taiwan has given me more confidence and has encouraged me to take risks. Traveling thousands of miles away from home was the bravest and best decision I have made. I have met new lifelong friends, experienced a new culture and developed a deeper understanding of myself and the world around me.
Thank you so much for following along and learning about Taiwan with me. I still have six more months in Taiwan, but I can already say that these first five months have left a lasting impact on my life and I will never forget this opportunity. I hope my experiences and what I have shared have inspire you to take risks and experience something new, no matter how far it takes you! Lastly, I want to encourage you to stay curious, keep learning, and embrace new opportunities that may push you beyond your comfort zone.
