I highly recommend playing this game if you ever have the chance, as it is super fun—I'm even thinking about buying Eigo Dake to play with my family when I get back to the U.S.A. Who knows..? Maybe it’ll inspire my family members to learn a little Japanese too!
It was my birthday on the 9th! The UCEAP team surprised me with a cute card—so sweet.
One thing I wish I could have done was find a restaurant in Japan where they sing to you on your birthday—if that kind of place even exists here. Back in the U.S., it’s pretty common for restaurant staff to surprise you with a song and maybe even a little dessert when they find out it’s your birthday. I love being sung to on my birthday. It makes me feel special.
I also started school! I'm taking Japanese language and culture classes. So far, I enjoy all of my classes. In my Special Topics In Japanese Culture course I will have the opportunity to wear a kimono. I and several other men and women volunteered to wear a kimono for teaching purposes. However, since only two people were needed we played the Japanese version of Rock, Paper Scissors to decide who would get to wear the kimono! This game is called じゃんけん (Janken) in Japanese. And I won! So, I will be modeling a kimono for everyone. Awesome, right?!
This will be my second time wearing a kimono. I also wore a kimono on March 27th. I had a photoshoot at Gion Shirakawa in Kyoto. These are a few photos from my shoot. I hope you enjoy them.
