My professor made a Swedish playlist for our class with artists like ABBA, Tove Lo,and Timbuktu. Their music is upbeat and sounds similar to pop or pop-rap. ABBA and Tove Lo are both Swedish artists who have had popular songs in the United States!
My favorite activity was kayaking! I kayaked for more than six miles and got to see swans, boats and even rowing teams practicing on the water.
This week, I read a lot about Swedish culture for my Swedish language and culture class. One thing that really stood out to me was how connected people are to nature. About 69% of Sweden is covered by forests and woodland! Because of this, many people enjoy being outdoors, including biking, hiking, foraging, kayaking and swimming.
I run for my university's track team at American University in Washington, D.C., so I am still running while in Sweden! There is a beautiful track near me called Zinkensdamms Idrottsplats. It even has a great view of the colorful Swedish houses.
During the fall, Sweden has several apple and fall festivals. One really fun thing about the apple festivals is that you can learn about all the different kinds of apples that grow here. You can even bring an apple from near your own home, and experts can help you figure out what kind of apple it is!
