Meeting María

She studied psychology while in college, and now teaches every subject except English. She works in a public school. My dad is an engineer!

What time does school start, and what time do you go home?:

School starts at 8:25 a.m. and I go home at 4:15 p.m. There is one break for 30 minutes, and after lunch there is another break.

How do you get to school? Are you allowed to go to school by yourself?:

I get to school by bus. I am not allowed to go to school by myself because my house is not near the school. However, afterschool, when I get off the bus, I walk back to my house by myself.

Where do you eat lunch? What is your favorite food?:

We eat lunch in the comedor (lunchroom). My favorite food is sushi.

What language do you speak at school? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

I speak Spanish, Galician, English, and I am learning to speak French. in Spanish, we say “hola” to say "hello". In Galician, we also say “hola”, and in French, it depends on the time of day, but typically “bonjour” is "hello".

What are some common kids' names at your school?:

Common kids' names at my school include María, Gala, Mateo, Pablo, and Lucia." 

What subjects do you study in school, and which one is your favorite?:

At school I study biology, math, technology, arts and crafts, French, Spanish, Galician, English, religion, PE, and history. My favorite class is English!

What is your homework like?:

Normally, I don't have a lot of homework! In math class, we are practicing square roots, fractions, powers, and exponents.
