Isabel is someone I've come to admire for her ability to find opportunities and immerse herself in foreign experiences. She's a testament that if you go looking and apply yourself, you can find great opportunities that will help you achieve your goals.
Tell us a little about yourself:
My name is Isabel Owen, I am from Great Neck, New York, a suburb outside of New York City. I also grew up in Florida as a kid. I studied English and History in college with a minor in Latin American Studies at SUNY Geneseo, a small public liberal arts college in New York. Afterward, I received a master's degree in Latin American studies from Tulane University in New Orleans. I hope to become a Professor of Comparative Literature in the future where I can bring my knowledge of cultural studies in Brazil and Latin America and continue teaching, which is something I am very passionate about. In my free time, I like to read, write, hike, swim, listen to music and do yoga.
Where are you in Brazil? How has that been? What’s a typical day like?
I am a Fulbright Teaching Assistant in Curitiba at the Technological Federal University of Parana in Brazil. Curitiba is a city in the south of Brazil.
