The kids usually split who takes out the trash each day.
Their mother works as a teacher for secondary schools (middle schools). Jorge told me he also wants to be a teacher when he grows up! Their father is an informatician who works with technology and information systems.
School starts at 9:30 a.m. and is over by 4:30 p.m. The children get home at around 5:00 p.m. once they get off the bus. For other schools in the area, it is normal for school to start at 9:00 a.m. and end around 2:00 p.m. Then, children can choose to stay later to eat lunch or stay for clubs.
Jorge and Sofía take the bus to school daily. They walk together to the bus stop, which is about five minutes from their house. Usually, their mom or dad accompanies them to and from the bus stop and wave goodbye.
Schools in Spain have a comedor (dinning room), which is similar to a cafeteria. They eat their food on trays. Typically, there is one option a day for lunch at school. Jorge and Sofía's favorite foods from the comedor are chicken, pasta and puree.
