Before I moved to Ourense, I had no idea what to expect, so I used the internet to look at pictures of the city ahead of arriving. Some of the most popular pictures I found were of Ourense's thermal baths. These baths were something I was most looking forward to, and I can confirm they are amazing!
Ourense is famous for its thermal baths, or hot springs. The city is known as the thermal capital of Galicia! Thermal baths are pools of water where heat comes up from underground. This makes them feel like a hot tub. The water is naturally heated from deep inside the Earth. Some of Ourense's thermal baths are inside the city, but my favorites sit along the Miño River.
The city of Ourense has used the thermal baths to help people rest and relax. They can be enjoyed in every season, but they are especially fun during the winter, because the air is cold outside, but it's warm in the water. Most thermal baths are free to visit, so they are available to anyone.
