00 AM: Wake up time! It gets harder and harder to wake up because the sun rises later each day as December approaches and the mornings are much darker. But the promise of a delicious breakfast of cream of wheat (or the German alternative) provides a tasty reason for me to get out of bed!

15 AM: Time to catch the bus to the University. On most days, I ride my trusty bike, but today I am taking the bus because I have to catch a train after work.

30 AM: I arrive in the laboratory and get 'kitted' up! Today, we are finishing a class on how to properly clean shells so that when we measure them, we make sure to get only measurements of the shell and not the crust that forms around them as they sit on the seabed.

00 AM: Off to my class: Analytical Geochemistry. This class is taught by my advisor, and it's an important element of learning to be a scientist that studies the earth! This week, we took a deep dive into learning about the chemistry of sediments and what they can tell us about the amount of oxygen in the bottom waters. It turns out that you can tell a lot from the sediments!

30 AM: Lunchtime with the laboratory.
