When the right amount of rain and sunshine arrive at the same time, mushrooms flourish in the forest! Although humans love to hunt for mushrooms, many insects and animals can get to them first.
Later this year, 21 new mushroom species will be added to Sweden's list of protected mushrooms, bringing the total to 26, of which three of which are under strict protection. Habitat loss from industrial forestry and the clearing of old forests pose serious risks to these natural wonders.
