As you all are nearing the time when you have to take your AP exams, I want to share a thought that has helped me while in Spain. When learning a new language, it is easy to beat yourself up after you have a conversation in that second language. "Ugh, I did not use the subjunctive correctly." This happens to me many times! However, in one of my favorite books titled "Love for Imperfect Things" by Haemin Sunim, a Korean Zen Buddhist Teacher, he tells us that we all have an "unconscious ocean of knowledge inside of us." Basically, we always seem to know more than we think we do. Even if you feel unprepared, inténtalo! -- try it! You never know what will happen.
To end with a quick note about the Fulbright U.S. Student Program that brought me here to Spain, you too can, and should, apply for a Fulbright grant in the future, if you would like to continue your cultural studies! There are three types of Fulbright grants that are available in most countries around the world: English Teaching Assistantship (my grant), research, and funded Master's Programs. Hasta luego,
