Over the course of about three years, the Khmer Rouge killed over 3 million people, which was, then, about a third of the population. The Killing Fields is exactly what it sounds like – a field where the Khmer Rouge killed other Cambodians. Today, the site is preserved for visitors to pay their respects and to learn about the genocide.
