The Wellington Cable Car

A round-trip adult ticket costs $9 NZD ($6.45 USD), but they offer student discounts and monthly passes!

How did I feel when I tried this way of getting around?:

I felt excited to use the Wellington Cable Car! I had never been on a cable car, and we were the only passengers at the time, so we got to choose any seat we wanted. The conductor gave us a tour of the controls, which was interesting to see.

Is this way of getting around connected to the culture and environment, How?:

The Cable Car is a great way to beat the calf-burner of walking up the hill, and it is also a piece of New Zealand history. Work began in 1899 and was completed in 1902. It is a symbol of the Wellington expansion because it was originally crafted to connect the expanding suburbs to the city. It was useful to workers and university students for many years as a primary means of getting around. Eventually, it became more of a tourist attraction, but many still use the car daily to travel into the city and back home. The cable car reminds me a lot of Kiwi culture because it is a chill and laid-back trip. It's in no rush to get you to your location, much like the people of New Zealand.
