The boarding process went smoothly. I got into my seat, put on my Beats, and then I knocked out for the entire flight (sorry, no aerial view pics this time). Two hours and some minutes later, we landed in Iguazú!
When I tell you this place was GREEN, I mean I felt like I was walking into a rainforest! Second thing, NYU told us it was going to be rainy. So I packed pants, long-sleeved shirts and my hoodie (not only to protect me from the rain and keep me warm, but also to protect me from the mosquitos). Only for me to step outside and start to immediately break a sweat. Travel tip: make sure you research the weather and climate of your destination. I only brought pants and shirts and I ended up getting soaked in sweat...But not to worry, I was able to buy a dress that I wore for the majority of the second day, so I did not drown in sweat...(ominous music plays)
NYU Buenos Aires had us jam-packed for the entire weekend! We got onto our bus for the day and we met our tour guides. They were probably my favorite element of this trip, as both of them were super passionate about sharing information about Iguazú and had a lot of Argentinian pride! We were told that we were going to drop off our luggage at the hotel (since check-in was not until later), take some time to freshen up and then off we were to the first activity of the day!
Our first stop was a wildlife conservatory, Güirá Oga. This wildlife refuge has a mission of preserving the indigenous wildlife of the Iguazú forests. Many of these animals have very sad backstories. Let me give you the top three:
