In fact, I thought they were so interesting that I have travelled to China every year since I first went. I went back again to teach English at a high school, and then I went to learn about what university is like in China. Even though I graduated college last May, I decided that I wanted to keep learning about China.
This year, I am doing research about high schools in China. What does doing research mean? It can mean a lot of things, but for me it means learning. I want to learn about what it means to be in high school in another country, and how that is different from high school in the U.S.
I do research because I want to be an anthropologist when I am older. Anthropology is a profession like science or education, where I can study people, society and culture. As an anthropologist, I can study anything, and ask questions about anything! In China, I can ask teachers why they teach the classes they do, and I can ask students how they feel about learning. I learn from other people by talking to them and watching them. I think it is very cool, and I am excited to tell you more about my journey as a student and a future anthropologist. Until next week!
