In my last year of college, I decided to apply to teach all over the world. I applied to teach in Europe, Asia, and South America. Eventually a friend told me about this amazing program in Israel and I ended up here. I loved the idea of being able to teach in English in an elementary school in a country that I had visited and fallen in love with my freshman year of college. I grew up Jewish, so the culture here is similar to mine in some ways, but also different in other ways as I am also American. I thought this would be the perfect place to spend the next chapter of my life.
I have been here since August and will stay until the end of June, when my students finish the school year. I teach English in an elementary school, working with second graders all the way up to sixth graders. I co-teach with an Israeli English teacher as well! The students' first language is Hebrew, which has a completely different alphabet from English, so in the third grade we start first by learning each letter, how to write it, and the sound it makes.
I live in a city named Rehovot. It is not a major city in Israel, but there are two Universities here and Rehovot has its own little culture. I love living here, thanks to the people, the food, the culture, the travel opportunities throughout Israel and some surrounding countries. I am so excited to share this adventure with you!
