First Days of University

Recently my Korean friend took me on a campus tour where I saw the facilities and the university's acclaimed engineering and science programs. She also showed me around her laboratory, where she completes research under the guide of her professor. These experiences enrich my understanding of Korean academic life and help deepen the friendships I'm building here.

Leisure and Learning:

During my free time, I like to take a break from my academic routine, explore cafes, and go on scenic bike rides along the beach. These leisurely activities refresh me and allow me to live in the moment and take a break from everything else. Through immersion in the local culture and interactions with people, I have been able to enhance my language skills and these small interactions are helping me maintain my motivation for learning Korean. Communicating with elderly Koreans in basic Korean has been a fun experience, as I am one of the very few foreigners in Yeosu. I have even become recognizable to some of the older people on the walking trails and we exchange greetings whenever we cross paths.

Reflections and Aspirations

Reflecting on my time in Korea so far, I am grateful for the lessons I'm learning and the personal growth I've experienced. Engaging with the elderly locals has not only improved my Korean but also made my cultural immersion deeply rewarding. As I move forward, I am excited to seek out more opportunities for interaction, pursue personal development, and explore Korea further.
