Carnival For All!

Why does the community have this tradition?:

During Carnival, people dress up in costumes like we do for Halloween. However, the meaning behind dressing up is to be someone or something you dream of being or having, even if it is a long shot! For example, if my wish were to have a pet lion, I would dress up as a lion! It is a way to show your dreams and aspirations.

Is this tradition connected to its environment? How?:

As I said before, there is a lot of street art in Brazil. Sometimes graffiti is frowned upon in the United States, but here in Brazil it is considered art by most people. The street art can be a result of Carnival street decorations, and it often contributes to the liberating message of the celebration of Carnival. Every street and every wall in downtown is unique!
