When I am working toward my PhD, I also plan to be an active member of Engineers Without Borders to continue to empower communities around the world to meet their basic human needs. Engineers Without Borders USA’s (EWB-USA) International Community Program collaborates on more than 370 projects in 40 countries. These projects range from providing consistent sustainable energy to improving basic infrastructure for communities. As an EWB-USA volunteer, I will work with the best organizations around the world to continue to improve global access to sustainable sanitation services. Access to clean water is a human right; however, with poverty, inequality, and climate change, water availability is becoming less predictable in many places. As a future (and current) explorer, I will promote a future of universal access to clean water.
