Exploring the Aran Islands

My sister and I were staying in Galway and drove an hour to the port to take the ferry. Both tourists and people who live on the island were on the ferry. It took about an hour to get to Inishmore, which is said to be one of the last true locations of the Gaelic language. Most inhabitants speak fluent Gaelic-Irish to each other and speak English to tourists.

We decided to hike around the island rather than bike, and found many animals such as horses, cows, sheep, mountain goats and seals! I had never seen real seals in person, especially not in the wild. They look like big worms but are so fun to watch. We also saw goats, which seemed very much like mountain goats, but my uncle swears they can't be because there was no mountain--but look at my picture. They look like mountain goats to me. What do you think?

It's important when hiking near animals to respect their perspective since we are visiting their homes. My sister and I made sure to not get too close to the seals or the mountain goats. The sheep, horses, and deer were all behind fences, but we made sure not to scare them and to approach slowly.

At the end of the island is an ancient fort called Dun Aonghasa. It sits on a huge cliff that is pretty scary if you're afraid of heights, like me.
